Just after 9 pm police responded to a report of an altercation between a man and residents of the area. On arrival, officers attempted to subdue the man “whose behaviour was quite eratic.” While attempting to subdue the man a police officer was stabbed in his upper left shoulder. Police called for further assistance and a response was made by other patrolling units. Police say an officer with one of the responding units was struck by a bottle thrown by the assailant. The assailant was shot by police. He received an injury to his lower back. He was transported to hospital where he is receiving medical treatment and is in stable condition. Both police officers were transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where they were treated and discharged. Police investigations are ongoing.
