The White Rabbit bar was the place to be on Friday night as all and sundry ventured to Drax Hall St George for the National Cultural Foundation’s Crop Over Sweet Lime.

The vibes were nice, drinks were flowing and an exciting menu was served up by the White Rabbit crew.

Performances by newcomer Asanta Blossom with her new hit Wild set the tone for the evening along with Waistline by Quon the artist.

His set had the crowd fully hyped from start to finish. You may have thought he’s a great dancehall artist, but his versatility in the soca genre is renowned. The other Quon, reining Pic O De Crop winner, has a sweet song this year, and the crowd was there for it. They rocked with him with his new piece “Rock With Me”.

Quon brought the vibes.

The crowd loved the “Dibby Attorney”, Rhea Layne, and she had her own people urging her on. Layne’s When Ya Passing is a sweet song that many women could identify with and they were here for it. She switched things up with Road Call and Crop Time.

Rhea Layne was a favourite on the night.

Also bringing a sweet vibe was influencer Akhnaten. His PTSD hit from last year was still refreshing.

It’s Jus put all into his performance.

It’s Jus – formerly Jus D – performed many of his songs like So What and Hole. He also brought a lot of energy to the stage with his 2023 power soca song Caller. The crowd seemed to love that one, and he also introduced them to Ben Up and Like Da – two big tunes for this year.

MC for the evening Peter Ram kept the night flowing and during his performance couldn’t help going down into the crowd as they partied to Good Morning and All Ah We.

Red Plastic Bag was spontaneously hyped with Spontaneous and had the young crowd begging for more with his performance of Ragga Ragga. Biggie Irie, another big name, was sweet for days. He performed hits such as Country and even paid homage to John Doe in a tribute song which was released last year.

Sanctuary Vibez also touched down on the stage, bringing a different energy with hits like Take Whine and Bezee.

Long-time soca favourite Barry Chandler also delivered with a new song for 2023 – It Sweet.

While speaking to Barbados TODAY marketing manager with White Rabbit Jazz Goddard said she was very pleased with sales on the night.

“The best way to put it is epic. The turnout is even more than we could ever imagine. We’ve had so many orders. We are so happy and so thankful for so many patrons that came out tonight. It is looking like five hundred plus. The bar has been busy, but the staff has been loving it. We’ve heard good comments about the food and about our drinks as well,” she said, adding they’re thankful to the NCF and Banks.
