The Sir David Seale-owned 4-year-old Irish-bred colt Brilliant News made it back-to-back wins in The Season of Emancipation Handicap on Saturday,  closing like a rocket to catch last year’s triple crown winner Hurricane on the line in exciting fashion.

Though second last in the early stages of six runners,  Brilliant News who ran second last and last in his last two starts improved his form coming off the pace to catch Hurricane and early pace setter Bajan Azecta.

Hurricane finished second and was not disgraced having his first start since winning the Derby last year.

Sir Jimmy finished 3rd and Bajan Azecta 4th.

Winning jockey Rey Williams is enjoying a stellar year after winning the Derby last race day. He is in striking form just six wins of the leading rider.

Winning trainer Andrew Nunes was back in the winner’s circle after finishing second in this year’s Derby.
