The victim has been identified as Lee Bovell, 39, of Rose Hill, St Peter. Police said the collision occurred just after 10 p.m. at the junction of KNR Husbands and Church Street, St. Peter, involving a Mitsubishi Pajero registration number S-8939. The driver of the Pajero was travelling along the KNR Husbands Highway from north to south. On approaching the traffic light junction, there was also a motor car in the middle lane facing a northerly direction waiting to turn right onto Church Street to head east. Bovell was walking from the west side of the roadway to the east side when he was struck by the Pajero. He had multiple lacerations about his body with a deep laceration to his head and a broken right foot. He died on the spot. Family members visited the scene and formally identified the body.
