In light of the many conflicts and “unfairness” in this world, Barbadian and United Nations (UN) officials on Monday evening urged people to practise equality and equity in everyday activities and interactions. The call came at a joint commemoration of the UN 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and acknowledgement of human rights defenders, hosted by the Canadian High Commission. Here, (from left) Minister of Labour, Social Security and the Third Sector Colin Jordan; United Nations Resident Coordinator in Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Didier Trebucq; High Commissioner of Canada to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Lilian Chatterjee; and US Ambassador to Barbados, Linda Taglialatela, join others in lighting candles of hope at the event.
