The bank, through its charitable arm, the FirstCaribbean International ComTrust Foundation, donated $175 000 to the Barbados Defence Forceโs Field Hospital to purchase a generator, which will assist with hospitalโs readiness for deployment in response to disasters. The other entity, the Caribbean Science Foundation was presented with $250 000 to support programmes targeted mainly at the regionโs youth. These include the Student Programme for Innovation in Science and Engineering (SPISE), Caribbean STEM Olympiads, Barbados Junior Robotics Camps and the Caribbean Computer Coding Workshops. The donations took place during a ceremony marking the rebranding of the bank from CIBC FirstCaribbean to CIBC Caribbean last Friday at their regional headquarters in Warrens, St Michael.
