Bourne, who had been ailing for some time with cancer, died on Wednesday. He was a fan favourite and delighted racing fans across the island for over two decades. He was especially well known for his Ford Focus WRC07. Bourne, who had several memorable battles with arch-rival Roger ‘The Sheriff’ Skeete, won the prestigious Rally Barbados on two occasions (2003, 2007), while also recording the most stage wins (60), spread across a decade. He also won several other local rallies and represented Barbados across the region, most notably in Trinidad and Jamaica. He was also an avid surfer.
