Share FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 1.8K Organisers and vendors are ready for the thousands of patrons expected for this year’s Oistins Fish Festival. This was the assurance given by Wendy Scorey, one of the co-chairs of the Oistins Fish Festival Planning Committee, on Friday, a day before the official opening ceremony for the March 30-April 1 event. When Barbados TODAY visited the southern town, scores of vendors were putting the finishing touches on their stalls and packing away food supplies for patrons who will visit the festival over the next three days. Scorey said: “Our preparations are going to plan. As you can see, we are doing the final touches to our electrical supply for our vendors. Usually, every Good Friday, vendors have completed their setups by evening and are ready and prepared for the festival with a fresh start tomorrow for our parade [and] opening ceremony. “It’s always an annual tradition amongst Barbadian families to partake in the Oistins Fish Festival, and as a committee and members of this cultural [experience], we want to ensure that Barbadian families still mark the Oistins festival on their calendars.” Scorey said it is expected that there will be several international guests attending the festival as well. Primarily because a lot of tourists love Oistins on a Friday night, and I’ve heard a lot of [visitors] say Oistins is unique in its own way,” she said.
