SigniaGlobe Financial BCA Youth produced a stunning upset on Saturday, defeating Empire by 16 runs in a low-scoring match at Bank Hall while St Catherine and Maple played to a thrilling tie that forced the first Super Over decision of the BCA T20 Cup competition.

Spinner Preston Clarke and pacer Kyron King snatched three wickets for 16 and 26 runs respectively, to trigger a collapse of the Empire batting, dismissing the “Blues” in 17 overs for 104 runs after the Youth had labored to 120 all out from their 20 overs.

Left-arm slow bowler Zachary Carter chipped in with 2 for 23 for the youngsters to record their first points.

Earlier, skipper Zion Brathwaite (39) and Clarke (28) helped pace the visitors to their eventual total as Rashad Worrell (3-29), who played for the Youth last season, led the home team’s bowlers.

Hosts St Catherine and Maple both struggled in favorable batting conditions to reach 114 in their respective innings, but Maple proved superior in the Super Over and registered a second win in as many matches.

Star-studded Wildey hit the day’s highest total, 206 for 8 off a hapless Isolation Cavaliers attack, with West Indies 2016 ICC T20 World Cup winning all-rounder, Carlos Brathwaite smashing two fours and seven sixes in a whirlwind 58 off just 18 balls. Shane Parris (59), Craig St. Hill (35) and recovering England fast bowler Jofra Archer (16) also joined in the onslaught. Cavaliers could only muster 100 all out in 18.4 overs to lose by a massive 106 runs.

Bayview YMPC all but annihilated Lords at Lowlands, St. Lucy, dismissing the hapless hosts for a meagre 57 before rocketing to 58 without loss from a mere 2.5 overs to also bring up a second success.
