Even as he assured the court that he would make things right with the complainants, Delano Romerro Linton was remanded to Dodds Prison for the next three weeks.

The 34-year-old labourer of 6th Avenue New Orleans, St Michael appeared in the No. 2 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Manila Renee, charged with stealing one $500 cellular phone and a $20 phone case belonging to Phyllis Bryan on May 10. He was also charged with damaging a car belonging to Ricardo Broomes on May 11.

Court prosecutor Richard Ellis objected to bail, pointing to Linton’s 12 previous convictions, the most recent of which was earlier this year before Magistrate Renee.

“Ma’am, I am sorry for wasting the court’s time. I am willing to pay back for the damages to the car, and I never sell the phone; I gave it back,” he told the court.

However, he was remanded into custody on the theft charge until June 7.

The criminal damage matter was transferred to the District ‘E’ Magistrates’ Court in Holetown on June 4.
