According to the Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS), the hurricane will continue to produce storm-force winds of 40 to 50 mph into the early afternoon. The BMS said in an 11 a.m. update that Beryl has strengthened into a dangerous Category 4 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 150 mph, and the eye was located about 240 km southwest of Barbados. The system continues to move westward at 20 mph. The next advisory is expected at 2 p.m. or sooner if conditions warrant, the BMS said.
