On Day 5 at GC Foster College, the Barbados boys had to battle through the quarterfinals. There, they overpowered Aruba 3-0 (25-9, 25-11, 25-8). Barbados were set to tackle hosts Jamaica in the second semifinal. Results were unavailable up to press time. Speaking after the quarteffinal fixture, Barbados men’s coach Curtis Burkett said: “We have to be happy, but the real work starts now. The semifinal is going to be a tough game against Jamaica. It’s going to be tough, but we are going to try to win it.” In the lone women’s quarterfinal game on Day 5, Jamaica were too strong for Aruba, and ran out easy 3-0 winners.
