Man scales villa wall ‘to pass water’

Convicted man Khalil Lavaar Hurley has been placed on a bond for six months after admitting to loitering on the premises of a South Coast villa.

If Hurley, 26, of Kings Street, St Michael breaches the order imposed on him, he will have to pay an immediate $750 fine to the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court or spend 60 days in prison.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Randolph Boyce told Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes that the owner of one of the rooms at the Hastings Main Road villa received a call just before 3 p.m. on Tuesday informing him that an unknown man had been seen on the premises. After checking the CCTV footage, police were called in and Hurley was detained. When asked to give a reason for being there, the young man reportedly said he had jumped over the five-foot guard wall to urinate.

Hurley has 15 previous convictions, the prosecutor told the court.

Explaining his actions to the chief magistrate, Hurley said: “I went to sell some tourist aloe vera. . .so the security guard that working there look like he has a problem with me . . . I don’t know what they talking about going and pass water.”

The chief magistrate then placed Hurley on bond to keep the peace and be on his best behaviour, telling him: “Stop going on the people’s premises.”
