The Caribbean Movement for Peace and Integration (Barbados), Barbados Industrial and Workers Union, Barbados Cuba Friendship Association, and the Friends of Venezuela Solidarity Committee (Barbados) condemn the US government for its illegal action and for the hijacking of the president of Venezuela’s plane in the Dominican Republic on Monday September 2, 2024. Our movements further call on CARICOM, Caribbean governments, and the people of the Caribbean to condemn this reckless action by the government of the US.
The US government is creating the conditions for a war in Latin America and the Caribbean so that it can exploit the people and resources in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Our movements also call on the progressive movements that support the Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela to organise protest actions outside all of the US embassies in the world.
Our movements will organise a solidarity meeting in Barbados on the 5th of October 2024 for the progressive forces in the Americas to express our solidarity with Venezuela, Cuba and Haiti.
