The service, held at Dunamis Outreach Ministries, brought together students, alumni, staff, and special guests to reflect on the schoolโs remarkable journey and look forward to even greater accomplishments. Reverend Carlos Brathwaite, the former pastor of Dunamis Outreach Ministries, delivered an impassioned address, setting the tone for the anniversary celebration. He proclaimed a prophetic vision for the school, predicting that it would soon produce its first Barbados Scholar from among the newer secondary schools. โSoon and very soon, Springer Memorial School will be the first of the newer secondary schools to produce a Barbados Scholar and/or Exhibition winner. In the name of God the Father and God the Son,โ he declared, as the congregation responded with resounding applause. The cleric linked this vision to the schoolโs enduring faith, urging students and staff to maintain their belief in God as they strive for academic excellence. โSelf-belief through God is faith, confidence in God, that with Godโs help, you are going to achieve what seems impossible,โ he emphasised. Brathwaite also reflected on the schoolโs past struggles and achievements, particularly in sports and academics, reminding the community that perseverance is key. โIt has taken Springer Memorial 60 years to receive this visionโฆ Even when you were ruling the athletic scene in Barbados, it was also a struggle. We are all in this together, or weโre not in it at all,โโ Tudor remarked, invoking the Apostle Paulโs teachings on unity, which his mother embraced as a guiding principle for the school. He supported Brathwaiteโs vision, expressing confidence that the school would achieve this academic milestone. โPastor Brathwaite, your prophetic word will come to pass. There will be a Barbados Scholar, no question, from Springer Memorial,โ Tudor affirmed. Meanwhile, the schoolโs Principal, Cheryl Gill, expressed her pride in the schoolโs legacy and reiterated her commitment to fostering excellence among students. She emphasised that faith and community have always been central to the schoolโs success and will continue to be so in the future. โOur journey has not been without challenges, but God has been faithful, and we have been able to overcome hurdles,โ Gill remarked, thanking the schoolโs staff, alumni, and students for their continued support. She also echoed Brathwaiteโs vision for academic excellence, highlighting the schoolโs role in nurturing well-rounded young women. โWe remain committed to nurturing well-rounded young women who are not only academically accomplished but equipped with compassion, confidence, and the critical thinking skills to excel in every field,โ Gill said. As the school steps into its next chapter, the principal emphasises the importance of unity and resilience. โTogether, let us continue to write the next chapter of this schoolโs extraordinary legacy. May the next 60 years be filled with blessings, growth, and success,โ she noted. The service was a celebration not only of the schoolโs past but also a rallying cry for its future. As Brathwaite declared, โWith God on your side, failure is not final.
