After winning the toss and opting to field in a match reduced to nine overs due to rain, the Guardians took wickets in every over of their innings with fast bowler Jair McCallister picking up four wickets for three runs in his 10 balls bowled as Warriors lost their final six wickets for only nine runs to be bowled out for 47 in 7.4 overs. Other wicket takers for the Guardians were left arm spinners Daniel Babb, 2/7, and Ryshon Williams, 2/11, with pacer Jatario Prescod taking 2/25. In their turn at bat, Guardians were on the back foot when left arm seamer Preston McSween removed both opening batters in the first over of the innings. Warriors were excellent in the field as they forced a run-out and grabbed every chance to have the Guardians reeling at nine for five in the first four overs. Jayden Roberts showed some fight with the bat, scoring 20 not-out in 15 balls but was left stranded on the non-striker’s end to watch the final five deliveries when wickets continued to tumble around him and the Guardians were left on 46 for nine in their nine overs. McSween ended with two wickets for five runs with his opening bowling partner, Rachad Forde, scalping two for four runs while Sadrian Ward grabbed two for 18, all bowling their allotted two overs each. Wickham the Destroyer In the second game of the day, Kevin Wickham showed his class when he destroyed the Titans bowling attack with an unbeaten knock of 60 in 28 balls, with five fours and five sixes, leading Settlers to a comfortable eight wicket win. Being asked to bat first, Titans reached a total of 92 for six in their 10 overs as Ashley Nurse top scored with 44 in 17 balls with four fours and six sixes. Fast bowler Damian Davis bowled with fierce competitiveness when he caused early trouble and removed openers Kadeem Alleyne and Kevin Stoute. The pair of Wickham and Nicolas Kirton then formed an unbroken partnership of 72 to guide them to their second consecutive win of the tournament. Guardians bounce back to defeat Voyagers Playing in their second game of the day, opening batter Ryshon Williams scored a half century as Guardians were able to defeat Voyagers by three runs. Williams faced 29 balls, striking five fours and three sixes in his score of 53 while Athelbert Brathwaite added 37 in 26 balls as the pair made 76 for the first wicket. The Guardians scored 123 for three in their 10 overs. Voyagers were off to a good start in their run chase as opening batter Jason Greene made 32 in 25 balls with three fours and two sixes while Dwayne Smith brought some excitement to the lower order when he gave his team a chance into the final over, striking three fours and five sixes, scoring an unbeaten 48 in 20 balls but fell short by three runs at 120 for four.
