These conditions are expected to intensify tonight, Thursday 13th February 2025, with a shear line affecting the island. According to the BMS, “Winds of 20 to 30 knots (37 to 56 km/h) are being generated by a strengthening Atlantic high-pressure system, with higher gusts possible during moderate showers. The prevailing weather conditions could cause significant disruption, and the public should remain alert.” The public is urged to take caution as unsecured objects such as inflatable structures, tents, and garbage cans may be blown around by the strong winds. A high-wind advisory is issued when sustained winds of 25 to 33 knots (47 to 61 km/h) are forecast to affect the land area within 36 hours. This advisory was issued at 12:00 Noon on Thursday 13th February and is expected to remain in effect until 6:00 a.m. on Saturday 15th February 2025.
