A small craft warning and high surf advisory remain in effect for Barbados due to elevated swells caused by moderate to breezy conditions across the marine area.

According to the BMS, these conditions are driven by “a robust Atlantic High-Pressure System, which is generating winds between 20 to 25 knots (35 to 47 km/h)”. Data from the BMS’ AutoNAUT monitoring system has recorded swells ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 meters (8 to 10 feet), which are expected to persist through the weekend and into the following week, with the highest swells anticipated on Sunday, March 30, 2025.

Small craft operators should be prepared for large open-water swells that may be hazardous to some vessels. The BMS also advised beachgoers to exercise caution and use beaches with lifeguards on duty.

The BMS said the advisory will be updated at 12 noon, on Saturday, March 29, 2025, or sooner if conditions change.
