Inspector Babb urged Barbadians to always be vigilant, whether online or offline, and contact TBPS if they believe that they have been victims of a scam or see evidence of a scam attempt. ย He shared the following tips to keep members of the public safe: If an offer sounds too good to be true, take some time to think about it before you act. Not responding to the offer is an option. Scammers often urge you to act immediately, so make checks before committing yourself to the offer. Do not share personal or financial information in response to an unexpected request or offer. Be careful what you post on social media. The more information you expose, the greater the chances are to be scammed. Avoid paying money up front to any request through unfamiliar payment methods. If in doubt, do not click on links or texts; you may expose the security of your device. Be cautious. Ignore calls, emails, and texts if you are unsure of the sender. Earlier this week, the Central Bank urged members of the public to remain vigilant against online scams, as it noted that โa fraudulent videoโ was circulating which โfalsely impersonates the Governor and purports to offer financial opportunities or solicit fundsโ.
