The Caribbean Disability Network (CDN), in collaboration with the Ministry of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs, will host the Caribbean Disability Conference from October 17 to 22, at the Wyndham Grand Barbados Sam Lord’s Castle Resort.

It is being held under the theme Breaking Barriers: Advancing Inclusive Education for All Abilities.

The conference will bring together over 200 delegates, including Ministers of Education, officials responsible for disability affairs, educators, advocates, youth leaders, researchers, and service providers from across the region and beyond.

Other participating countries include Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Grenada, Guyana, St Vincent and the Grenadines and The Bahamas. The objectives are as follows:

  • Promote inclusive education policies and practices across the region.
  • Elevate the voices and lived experiences of persons with disabilities (PWDs) and their families.
  • Facilitate regional knowledge exchange and capacity-building.
  • Advance legislative and policy frameworks supporting PWDs.
  • Showcase innovations through a poster presentation of regional best practices.
  • Encourage inter-sectoral collaboration for sustainable development.

The CDN is a regional alliance committed to promoting the rights, dignity, and inclusion of persons with disabilities across the Caribbean. It serves as a collaborative platform for officials, social development agencies, and civil society community.
