Intermittent heavy showers are expected throughout Friday and may cause flash flooding, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas. According to the BMS, rainfall totals of up to two inches are possible before conditions begin to improve later Friday night. Residents are advised to exercise caution, as sudden flooding on roads, fields and properties could lead to travel delays and diversions. Water levels in drains and ponds may also rise during the day. Members of the public are urged to follow guidance from the Department of Emergency Management (DEM) and to monitor updates from official sources, including the BMS, DEM and the Government Information Service. A Flash-Flood Watch is issued when conditions are favourable for possible flooding but do not necessarily mean that flooding will occur. This current watch will remain in effect until 6:00 p.m. Friday or until it is updated or cancelled. For the latest information, visit www.barbadosweather.org or contact the BMS at 535-0022.
