Phillip named ACC Offensive Player of the Year

Saint Lucian striker Donavan Gusto Phillip was one of three North Carolina State University men’s soccer players earning Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) honours on Wednesday, making the All-Conference team and being named Offensive Player of the Year.

The junior forward from Marchand is set to begin life as a professional footballer in 2026, when he will join the Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer. He is also hopeful of linking up with the Saint Lucia national team to make his senior international debut.

In his final collegiate season with the Wolfpack, the towering forward led his conference in shots (62), shots per game (3.65), points (31), points per game (1.82), goals (15), and goals per game (0.88), to claim the Offensive Player award.

After a dominant regular season slate, NC State men’s soccer also took ACC Defensive Player of the Year and ACC Goalkeeper of the Year, through sophomore centre-back Nikola Markovic and senior goalkeeper Logan Erb, who led the conference in shutouts and shutouts per game.

In addition to those three, senior midfielder Taig Healy, who leads the conference in assists, landed on the All-ACC First Team, making NC State the majority of the First Team list. This marks the first time since 1984 that NC State has held four players on the All-ACC First Team, and just the second time in programme history.
