BusinessCommunityLocal News Courts lights up Bridgetown with 60th anniversary parade by Barbados Today 23/11/2025 written by Barbados Today 23/11/2025 2 min read A+A- Reset Share FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 426 The eyes of children sparkled with excitement as Courts’ 60th Anniversary Lighted Parade wound its way through the city on Saturday night—a glowing thank you from the brand to the public. Long before the first float appeared, a sense of anticipation rippled through the crowd, with families waiting patiently, unmoved even by the drizzles of rain. When the procession finally arrived on Broad Street, the night sky erupted with colour as a breathtaking burst of fireworks drew gasps from onlookers, many unsure where to look as both the spectacle above and the illuminated displays below competed for attention. Each float showcased its own theme. Barbadian culture took centre stage with the I’m a Bajan float, where dancers dressed in sailor-inspired costumes performed familiar Landship manoeuvres. It was the Disney-inspired creations that truly enchanted the youngest spectators. Little Mermaid and Frozen-themed displays had little girls completely captivated, waving eagerly as their favourite characters passed by. The parade also brought the spirit of Christmas to life, with the Star of Bethlehem float depicting the three wise men and the angels. However, the loudest cheers came as the float featuring Santa, Mrs. Claus, and several cheerful elves rolled by. Children struggled to tear their eyes away, swept up in the magic of the upcoming holiday season. One onlooker told Barbados TODAY, “This parade was a really nice idea. It’s a really good family outing and it brings life back to Bridgetown. One of the things I would say is that, unlike the Courts concert which is held at the drive-in, this gives people from the city communities, some of whom will no doubt be Courts customers, the opportunity to walk from home and experience the parade.” She added, “As a member of the public and as a consumer, we really appreciate it. It would be nice if the National Cultural Foundation would actually hold a concert in the middle of Bridgetown during December to get more people to come out and bring life back to the city.” (STT) You Might Be Interested In Crystal Beckles-Holder, 2nd runner up in regional competition GUYANA: Body of child found after gold mine collapses Barbadians asked to help with return tickets for Haitians Barbados Today Stay informed and engaged with our digital news platform.
