The Holetown installation is expected to be completed late next week, and Phase 1 in Bridgetown is now underway. The MTW anticipates that the added illumination will make a major impact on The City’s landscape, as Christmas shoppers move throughout Bridgetown. The upgrade of lighting across the island forms part of government’s policy to strengthen Barbados’ climate resilience. Through the MTW’s Climate Resilience Programme, the ministry aims to reduce dependence on electricity by procuring and installing solar lighting along streets and highways. This Christmas, as persons shop and participate in the festivities across the island, the MTW encourages everyone to prioritise their safety by making use of well-lit streets and roadways.
