Flow empowers Welches Primary students with a Safer Internet Day session

A team from Flow paid a special visit to students at Welches Primary School last week, ahead of Safer Internet Day, to discuss safe and responsible internet use and reinforce the importance of smart digital choices from an early age.

The interactive presentation encouraged students to think critically about their online behaviour, including what they share, how they communicate with others, and how smart technologies should be used responsibly. Key messages focused on kindness, respect, protecting personal information and understanding that online actions leave a lasting digital footprint.

The session was led by Camara Price, Supervisor, Technical Assistance Centre at Flow, who focused on online safety, digital responsibility and the role of personal choices when using smart technology.

Students were engaged throughout the session, asking questions and sharing their own online experiences. An iPad and vouchers were presented to the school, while the 50-plus Class 3 and Class 4 students all received Flow branded items.

“Flow believes that connectivity should empower and protect, especially when it comes to our children,” said Toni Yarde, Senior Manager, Communications at Flow.

“This visit allowed us to have meaningful conversations early and help students understand that while technology can be powerful, smart choices are what make it safe. We see education and awareness as essential pillars of online safety, particularly as children gain access to the internet at younger ages and interact with increasingly sophisticated digital tools. This session forms part of our commitment to building safer digital communities.”

Principal of Welches Primary School, Julia Broome, welcomed the engagement and thanked Flow for its continued support.

“We are grateful to Flow for taking the time to engage our students in such an interactive and relevant way. This partnership continues to benefit our school community by reinforcing important lessons about safety, responsibility and good decision-making online,” Broome said.

Safer Internet Day is observed globally each year to encourage safer and more positive use of digital technology. This year’s theme, “Smart Tech, Safe Choices – Exploring the Safe and Responsible Use of AI”, highlights the importance of smart decision-making in an increasingly connected world. (PR)
