Competing in the women’s 400m, the defending champion and record holder was second in 50.99 seconds. The race was won by Jamaica’s Dejanea Oakley in 50.21 seconds. Ahead of the race, Oakley and Williams were among the favourites for the gold. For Williams, it is another international medal during a glittering career that has also seen her winning two world championship bronze medals.
