The championships run from August 15 to 22. The Barbados team departed on Thursday. Prow will be joined in the women’s team by CAC Games gold and silver medallist Meagan Best, multiple-time former Caribbean junior champion Eboni Atherley, and experienced campaigner Rae Muffin Stollmeyer. The men’s team features CAC bronze medallists Khamal Cumberbatch, Darien Benn and Shawn Simpson along with Alex Stewart. A total of 21 teams from across the hemisphere will be competing for the 11 available slots at next year’s Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. According to manager Don Benn, Barbados will be looking to back up the outstanding CAC Games performance with a strong showing in Paraguay. Benn confirmed that both Margot Prow and Meagan Best have both been awarded a 5/8 seeding and will be expected to reach at least the ladies’ singles quarterfinals. USA’s Amanda Sobhy and Marina Stefanoni, the world No.10 and No.14 ranked players respectively, are the top two ladies seeds at the championships.
