Sandy Crest training facility eyes TVET accreditation

Sandy Crest Medical Centre is expanding its role in healthcare education, with its training facility expected to receive accreditation from the TVET Council.

Managing Director Brian Charles disclosed the development as the medical centre marked its 20th anniversary on August 23, saying Sandy Crest had moved beyond patient care to invest in education and professional development.

“We are especially excited that our training facility is soon expected to receive accreditation from the TVET National Council, an achievement that represents another significant chapter in our journey of excellence,” Charles said.

He said the training division was intended to help develop the next generation of healthcare professionals while supporting entrepreneurship in medical and paramedical fields.

“Through our training division, we are helping to prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals while also promoting entrepreneurship and the development of medical and paramedical disciplines,” he said.

“This initiative reflects our belief that improving healthcare is not only about caring for today’s patients, it is also about preparing tomorrow’s professionals.”

The development comes as Sandy Crest continues to broaden its operations beyond the emergency and urgent care services on which the medical centre was established.

Charles said the facility now provides comprehensive family wellness services, with greater emphasis on promoting healthier lifestyles and preventing disease.

“What began primarily as an emergency and urgent care facility has grown into something much greater,” he said.

“Today, we provide comprehensive family wellness services, recognising that healthcare extends beyond treating illness to promoting healthier lives and preventing disease.”

Charles indicated that further development was planned as Sandy Crest entered its third decade, pointing to changes in healthcare technology and growing patient expectations.

“Healthcare continues to evolve. Technology continues to advance. Patient expectations continue to grow,” he said.

“These changes present both challenges and exciting opportunities.”

Charles said the medical centre intended to continue expanding its services and investing in its workforce while embracing innovation and improvements in patient care.

“We remain committed to innovation, continuous improvement, expanding our services, investing in our people, and ensuring that Sandy Crest Medical Centre remains a leader in patient-centred healthcare,” he said.
