Five juveniles remanded, another on bail

Five of six juveniles accused of committing 24 offences — ranging from the use of a firearm to the theft of a motor vehicle—across four policing districts have been remanded to the Barbados Prison Service at Dodds, while the sixth was granted $2 000 bail.

Four of the juveniles appeared before Magistrate (ag) Jared Richards in the District ‘A’ Traffic Court on Thursday, with the remaining two appearing before Chief Magistrate Douglas Frederick the previous day. All six are scheduled to return to court on October 15, 2026.

The charges stem from incidents recorded between April and September this year.

In the Hastings/Worthing district, the juveniles are alleged to have endangered life on June 3, June 8, three times on July 4, and again on July 20.

They are also accused of wounding with intent on July 5, aggravated burglary on June 3, and several robberies committed on February 7, July 20, August 5, August 18, and August 31.

Police have further charged them with using a firearm during incidents on June 3, June 8, July 4, and July 5, as well as the theft of a motor vehicle on August 31.

In the Central district, the allegations include a robbery on August 22, assault with intent to rob on September 6, two counts of assaulting a police officer on September 7, and resisting a police officer on the same date.

Charges laid in Black Rock relate to wounding with intent and the use of a firearm during an incident on April 7, along with escaping lawful custody.

A separate motor vehicle theft charge was brought in relation to an incident in District ‘A’ on August 31.
