The Chapman Challenge to officially launch on October 9

The President’s Trust announced the official launch of The Chapman Challenge, a national initiative being undertaken under the patronage of President Jeffrey Bostic.

“When I was elected as President of Barbados, I wanted to do some things that would make a difference in the lives of the people of Barbados. The Chapman Challenge is the first of such activities. It is the first and the flagship activity of the President’s Trust,” said President Bostic.

“The vision is to provide opportunities for every Barbadian child to be able to get the scaffolding that would allow them to achieve their objectives and this really is the genesis behind the vision for The Chapman Challenge. We will provide all of the tools necessary to help you to map your journey, to follow your journey, to achieve the objectives so that you can reach your destination.”

The Chapman Challenge is a transformative programme of the President’s Trust designed as a tool to inspire excellence, leadership, personal development, resilience and national pride among participants, through mentorship and necessary scaffolding to achieve it.

Through the three-tiered programme, the initiative seeks to empower individuals between the ages of 10–24 to reach their full potential in their field or area of choice. This seeks to foster a spirit of service, teamwork and responsible citizenship.

The programme reflects the Trust’s commitment to investing in people and creating opportunities that contribute to the social and economic advancement of Barbados.

The official launch ceremony of the Chapman Challenge will take place on Friday, October 9, at the Garfield Sobers Gymnasium, at 11 a.m.

The president, who is the Patron of The Chapman Challenge, will deliver the feature address during the ceremony. Prime Minister Mia Mottley will also be in attendance and deliver remarks in support of this important national initiative.

The launch ceremony will bring together government officials, community leaders, stakeholders, sponsors, participants and supporters to mark the beginning of what is expected to become a significant platform for youth and community development across the island.
