The Barbadian soca artiste and songwriter christened Antonio Johnson has been serenading soca lovers since his break out 2017 single Na Na Ni and he is reaping the rewards of his success. After recently performing at the Soca or Die Rising Stars Concert in Canada, Jus D is kicking off the Manager Promo Tour in Trinidad. During Crop Over 2018, Jus D dominated the airwaves with his singles Manager, Hole, Only Thing She Knows and Sugar featuring Faith Callendar. In November last year he also released Wifey on the Purple Riddim; a song which endorsed female empowerment. With Trinidad carnival scheduled to start in February, Jus D told Bajan Vibes that the local response to his bashment-groovy soca fused single Manager has been tremendous; it’s the frontrunner from his 2018 release. “The response is good. People are hitting me up saying they love the vibes,” he said. His tour will run until January 30 but that isn’t the last of the singer-songwriter. He has written I Got You, My Kind of Party and It Takes Two for Antiguan soca artiste Ricardo Drue for this year’s carnival. Soca lovers can also expect a remix of his popular sweet soca single Only Thing She Know featuring a popular female Caribbean artiste. The singer/songwriter revealed that 2018 was nothing short of life changing. “It was a blessing and amazing. So many great things happened in 2018. I had some good songs, had a whole heap of bookings . . . went to different places and met some new people. 2018 was really the best year of being alive,” he shared. With the conclusion of his tour, he said that he would be in full working mode in preparation for Crop Over 2019. Known for his versatility and fusion of different genres, he said that listeners can expect more high-quality music and collaborations. “For 2019 it will be more heat and more fire. I just like to do my own thing so . . . [I’m] just focusing on the music, making sure the people can relate to it, can vibe to it and represent the country,” he added.
