To further reduce crowding in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital out-patient clinics, out-patients are asked to present to clinic unaccompanied. Only out-patients who are:

·      Minors i.e. children under the age of 18

·      Elderly, who are at high risk of falling

·      Those who may be disoriented or who require assistance with regular day to day activities such as going to the bathroom

may be accompanied by a caregiver or companion. Additionally, all persons visiting the QEH, except those seeking medical treatment in the AED, will be required to submit to a temperature check. Out-patients and visitors with temperatures exceeding 38 degrees centigrade will be denied access to the hospital compound.

Out-patients with elevated temperatures will be provided with a surgical face mask and instructed to wait outside whilst their clinic doctor is consulted for guidance. Conversely, visitors with elevated temperatures will be advised to call the QEH Help Desk at 536-4800 through which they will be provided with information on where best to seek the medical attention required to meet their healthcare needs.

Lastly, in accordance with the recommendation from the Government of Barbados that all persons wear a cloth face mask in public, please be advised that all persons, including out-patients, must wear a face mask when visiting the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Please note that failure to comply with these revised entry measures may result in the individual or individuals being denied entry to the premises. As such, all out-patients and visitors to the QEH are being strongly urged to comply with these new entry measures, and the social distancing guidelines which require individuals to queue or sit at least 6 feet (2 meters) away from other persons.
