Based on the Minister of Education Santia Bradshaw’s recent vague statement as to whether the Common Entrance Exam will take place, is this a situation where she has now succumbed to the wishes of the minority, that there should not be an Exam; and is possibly conveniently using the presence of the ash from the volcano as an excuse? Why would she contemplate this move at this stage, in the process of disadvantaging the majority of those students scheduled to take this exam having prepared for the past five years of their lives? Suggestion, allow those who are ready and feel comfortable to take the exam, and those who may not feel comfortable taking the exam at this time, grant them a deferral. The content can also be compressed. Also, what is all of this talk about giving poetry more prominence coming from Prime Minister Mia Mottley, and her suggestion that it’s the way to go? Poetry is fine but why would she try to impose her will on the people of Barbados? This is a democracy and not an autocracy!
