As a result, they have activated a formal HAZMAT (hazardous materials) response. Police and fire officers are canvassing the residential area located downwind of the blaze to warn and evacuate residents to avoid any inhalation of smoke. Officers on the scene are also redirecting both vehicular and pedestrian traffic away from the area. Fire officers report the blaze started around 5:49 a.m. Thick, black smoke has been billowing from the facility.
