Joseph prepared the 3-1 second choice Parkland that won the U.S. $35 000 fifth race to claim his track-leading 25th win of the season, and Bridgmoham was aboard 36-1 long-shot Soul of an Angel that won the U.S. $71 000 eighth race. Parkland, under Irad Ortiz Jr, stalked from the two-path in the 1 670 metres trip around the all-weather track. Ortiz coaxed the six-year-old, dark bay gelding while looming up in the six-path entering the lane, and produced his mount in the final furlong to finish one length clear in a time of one minute, 39.58 seconds. Bridgmohan, a former Eclipse Award winner, whose career has receded in recent years, proved he still has skills when he drove Soul of an Angel to a 2-1/2 lengths win in the penultimate race on the card over one mile on the dirt. He settled Soul of an Angel off the pace through the first half of the race before he got the three-year-old, dark bay filly to circle five-wide near the five-sixteenths pole and she kicked clear turning for home to clock one min, 35.74 secs.
