Share FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 220 The Barbados Agricultural Society (BAS) is encouraging vendors to take full advantage of this year’s Agrofest showcase. During a workshop held at Radisson Aquatica Resort, Aquatic Gap, St Michael on Wednesday chief executive officer of the BAS James Paul told a group of about 30 vendors that one of the key objectives of the event was to highlight the creative offerings of small business owners. He said the organisers of the event went to great lengths to help them to maximise sales by making adjustments to stall placements in the Queen’s Park exhibition area, the only area to be used this year for the event. Acknowledging that there may be some space limitation he said the decision not to use the Weymouth B area as in previous years was made to ensure each vendor had equal access to the scores of patrons. “We want to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to go home feeling satisfied that they have made some money . . . We want to also ensure the free flow of people in the park and not having one side overweight and the other side not making any money. This is important for us. What we have done this year is that we have distributed all of the exhibitors throughout the park so everybody has a chance to mix with the crowd,” he said. Paul said the BAS would also be facilitating commercials to promote the vendors and encouraged them to use this opportunity to advertise what they had to sell. He said people patronising the event were often looking for things they could not find widely at stores and he told the vendors to highlight their special offerings. The BAS head added that the organisers were looking to have door prizes to get more patrons excited and to reward them for their support over the years. During the workshop, vendors were exposed to various nutritional processes and health and safety procedures. (SZB) Barbados Today Stay informed and engaged with our digital news platform.
