Berger Paints Caribbean Limited has seen considerable growth in sales and local market-share over the past few years, particularly with their automotive paint offerings.

This word comes from Tameka Hoyte-Thompson, Regional Sales Manager for Berger Paints, as she delivered remarks during Wednesday’s opening of their new Colour Shop by Berger at the Berger, Exmouth Gap, Brandons St. Michael offices.

Hoyte-Thompson noted that despite the economic difficulties over the past three years of the COVID-19 pandemic, the business continues to see favourable sales.

“There has been an increase in our market-share here. We would have expanded our offerings to the consumer, and I want to focus on our automotive line because that is the area we are aggressively working on this year.”

She added: “We saw an opportunity for us to grow our space, and if you are offering paint, we did not want to offer just in one particular area. We are industrial, decorative and automotive. Our automotive line has two components; we have an all baseline and also a water based, and as the country is moving towards in 2030, [and] a more green economy, there is an opportunity for us to really engage the automotive dealers and also the end users, [about] using a more eco-friendly product.”

General Manager of Berger Paints, Rhea Singh, said that the opening of the new Colour Shop at Brandons, in the company’s 60th year, shows Berger’s commitment to offering easy access to its products and services.

“Sixty years is a big deal for us. And Berger and the ANSA McAL Group, remain committed to the Barbados market. We are also re-engineering in other areas of the business to better serve our customers.

“We recently expanded our warehouse racking to allow us to get more pallet spaces. We have also installed equipment to improve our product availability, and later this year we will be launching a new CRM platform to better engage with our customers.”

Davidson Ishmael, Minister of Industry, Innovation, Science and Technology also took part in the morning’s proceedings, and praised Berger management for the continued efforts to remain competitive in the sector.

“We recognise that it is a very competitive space, [but] I think that you have a niche and you have a space in this location and your other three locations that afford the people of Barbados a range of options and easy and convenient locations where they can find you. I think that is probably what would have inspired you to reopen this location here at Brandons.” (SB)
