The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) said the wave was located about 290 miles (500 kilometres) East-southeast of the island. The Small Craft and High Surf Warning also remains in effect, with the strong winds already generating hazardous marine conditions around the island. The BMS said cloudiness and showers will gradually increase from late this afternoon, with the peak of the shower activity expected tonight into Saturday. Excess rainfall and thunderstorms are also possible and could result in flash-flood and severe-thunderstorm watches or warnings being issued as the system affects Barbados.
