Two popular restaurants on the South Coast have announced temporary closure.

As the island continues to face the fallout due to the global pandemic COVID-19, Champers Restaurant will close its doors from tomorrow, March 23 until April 30 while Tapas will close on Tuesday, March 24. No date was given for the reopening of Tapas.

However, Tapas management stated that they are willing to work with employees.

The statement read: โ€œWe view our employees as family. We understand the financial implications for everyone involved and really empathise with the stress that everyone may be feeling. We are taking the full responsibility of making this transition easier by paying anticipatory vacation wages for this period to all our staff who desire it.โ€

Both establishments cited the need to protect the health and safety of both their customers and their staff.

Champers stated: โ€œThe health and safety of our customers and team members are our top priority as we take these extra precautions.โ€

Tappas stated: โ€œWe, at Tapas Restaurant, view the health and safety of our staff, customers, families and community as the highest possible priority and believe that it is our social responsibility to slow the spread of COVID-19 at all costs.โ€ (IMC)
