A Christ Church resident has admitted to vehicle theft, after renting a car from one man and selling it to another.

Hasani Kayode Boyce pleaded guilty to stealing a $10 000 motorcar belonging to Rodney Lewis between October 3 and 12, 2018.

He is set to reappear before Madam Justice Pamela Beckles in May when the sentencing phase of his case will commence. A presentencing report has been ordered in the meantime.

The No. 5 Supreme Court heard from state prosecutor Senior Crown Counsel Oliver Thomas, that Boyce rented the car from Lewis initially for two weeks.

However, the Coverley Development resident told Lewis he wanted to use the vehicle for a bit longer. No money was forthcoming for the rental and Lewis tried to contact Boyce with no success.

The complainant sought the help of a mutual friend and Boyce told that person that the car needed cleaning.

Lewis then contacted the Licensing Authority about the vehicle and was informed that it had been sold. A letter of transfer had apparently been used with a signature purporting to be Lewis.

The vehicle, according to the facts read by Thomas, had been sold to an Indian man for $8 000, who then resold it for $15 000 to another man.

The vehicle was later recovered.
