The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) is closely monitoring an area of disturbed weather embedded within the monsoon trough about 2550 KM or 1585 miles east of Barbados.

In an information statement, the BMS said the system remains disorganized and is not expected to change much over the next few days as it moves very slowly westward to west north westward. Extended forecast tracks at this time takes the system well north of Barbados by late next week.

The BMS however strongly recommends that the public listens for daily updates over the weekend and early next week.

The forecasters also advised that with the hurricane season entering its peak, residents must ensure their hurricane preparedness checklists have been completed and are ready.

The BMS will issue its next update on the system on Saturday at 6 p.m.
