The presentation was made by British High Commissioner Scott Furssedonn-Wood and warmly welcomed by Minister of Health Ian Gooding-Edghill who said the medicines would go a long way in helping Barbados to advance its fight against COVID-19. In a press conference held at the Grantley Adams International Airport, the minister said this donation spoke to the deep relationship between the two governments. Thanking the High Commissioner, the minister said healthcare workers would be trained to administer the vaccines and children would be able to get the jab from Tuesday at the Vaccination Centre on the Harbour Road, St Michael. He added that full schedules for the available centres would be released by the Government Information Service. Furssedonn-Wood said he was pleased with the public response to vaccination and was impressed by the efforts of the Mia Mottley administration to protect Barbados. He said this donation, coupled with his governmentโs recent donation of AstraZeneca vaccines, would help boost the islandโs resilience.
