A woman is dead following a house fire in St Philip Saturday night, police say.

Police responded to a call for a fire at a residence located at Hillview, Marley Vale, St Philip.

On arrival, police met with personnel from the Barbados Fire Service.

The fire, which destroyed two houses, was extinguished about 10:45 pm.

Firemen reported the discovery of charred remains of a human body located in the bathroom section of the house.

The body was later identified as Carol Alleyne, 67, of the same address.

The victim’s son talks with police at the scene of the fire.

The second house, which was destroyed, is owned by Michael Hunte.

Both houses were uninsured.

Police investigations are ongoing.
