After a pause for a few years due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual sporting event is back in all its glory, with Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs, Kirk Humphrey, who gave brief remarks, telling attendees and athletes at the evening’s ceremony that the national games should serve as a prime example to the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs, Kirk Humphrey, opens National Senior Games. “This is a reminder for us to take care of bodies, take care of our health… Barbadians really need to put some time into our health. Many of us are dying too early, or as we live on, we are not living as well as we ought to, with a lot of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). So these things really are a high point as to why we have to take care of ourselves every day.” The national games will continue over the next two days.
