In preparation for the trip, the boys participated in a number of training sessions. They made gadgets, camped, hiked, learned to pack their bags for the camping trip, prepared their own meals, and received lessons on how to be ready and equipped for all activities. Scout Zeryan Arthur said he was excited to participate and spoke of his expectations. “I am excited to meet new friends in scouting and experience the different cultures that will be there. I also want to use this as an opportunity to improve my social skills while I interact with other scouts and leaders. Teamwork is very important on a tour like this and I am looking forward to improving that as well. It will also be a history lesson for me”. The theme of this year’s Jamboree is Draw your Dream! It is aimed at encouraging greater acceptance of young people’s ideas and opinions while creating an opportunity for them to make their Jamboree dreams come true. Draw your Dream! expresses the desire for members of the Scout Movement to transform the 25th World Scout Jamboree into their own festival and grow their dreams through the event. Organized by the World Organization of the Scout Movement, the World Scout Jamboree is the world’s largest youth camp held every four years. Tens of thousands of young people and leaders from 150 countries share culture, experience, and friendship and put global citizenship into practice. The Barbados contingent returns home on Sunday, August 13.]]>
