The Barbados passport has inched up two spots on the ranking of the world’s passports, remaining the highest-ranked in the Caribbean.

The island is ranked number 22 globally, with visa-free access to 165 countries, out of 199 different passports and 227 destinations, according to the 2024 Henley Passport Index, released by the London-based global citizenship and residence advisory firm Henley Partners.

In 2023, the Barbados passport was ranked 24th with visa-free access to 163 countries.

The index is the original ranking of all the world’s passports according to the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa. It is based on exclusive data provided by the International Air Transport Association.

The Bahamas has the next leading passport among the remaining Caribbean countries. It ranks 24th with a score of 158; St Kitts and Nevis and St Vincent are both ranked 25th with a score of 157; Antigua and Barbuda is 27th with a score of 153; Trinidad and Tobago is 29th with a score of 151; and Grenada and St Lucia are both at 32nd with a score of 146.
