Parents of newborn babies are asked to note that the law allows for babies to be registered up to a maximum of one year without a penalty or a fee. Therefore, only babies that have to seek urgent medical attention overseas, and stillborn babies will be registered at this time. Parents are advised to use the baby’s Green Book and their (the parents) national identification card to access medication prescribed by a medical practitioner at the pharmacy. In addition, only birth certificates for persons seeking urgent medical attention overseas will be processed. The registration of deaths will continue, and only death certificates for recent deaths will be processed.
