The management of the Sanitation Service Authority (SSA) will be saluting its frontline workers on Wednesday, April 29.

The SSA’s Public Relations Officer, Carl ‘Alf’ Padmore, outlined that the management of the SSA will salute their frontline workers by applauding the truck workers at the depot, when they return from their collection routes this Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. and at 12:12 p.m.

Householders are encouraged to join the management of the SSA in saluting the workers by applauding, blowing a whistle, displaying a placard or ‘shouting’ a word of encouragement as the workers pass their houses while servicing their routes.

Acting Manager of the SSA, Janice Jones, expressed her deep felt gratitude to the entire staff for the tremendous work being done. Also echoing those sentiments was acting Operations Manager, Shawn Philips, who said he was “touched by the commitment and cooperation demonstrated.”

Ms. Jones highlighted that SSA workers on trucks were utilising masks and gloves during collection of garbage and trucks were equipped with sanitisers.

PRO Padmore has asked the public to sanitise garbage bins after collection of garbage and to note that household waste should not be more than 25 pounds.

He is encouraging the public to observe the physical distancing protocols in place, and to practice good hand and respiratory hygiene, as recommended by the Ministry of Health and Wellness. (BGIS)
