#BTFocus – Be prepared . . . Kooyman and Guardian General launch awareness campaign

Kooyman and Guardian General Insurance Limited are pleased to announce the launch of a digital campaign for the 2020 hurricane season.

The campaign will focus on educating the Barbadian public on the topic of hurricane preparedness, while providing meaningful tips to prepare their homes and families for the hurricane season. Each week, via social media, consumers will be presented with a trivia question to test their knowledge and will have a chance to win a hurricane kit valued at $250.

“Guardian General approached us with this intriguing campaign pitch and we immediately jumped on board,” said Kooyman Marketing Officer Charlene Mullin. “We launched our preparedness campaign from the 1st week of June across radio, social media and press, so this fits nicely with our objectives for the hurricane season. In addition, we have produced a brochure including key discounts available in-store and online.”

With an active hurricane season being predicted for 2020, Barbadians should avoid becoming complacent. While it may be difficult with so much happening now, including the public health and economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, Barbadians must make an effort to prepare and be ready for any emergency situation.

Business Development Officer at Guardian General Vicki Olton added: “Our company is extremely pleased to partner with Kooyman on this initiative. We recognize Kooyman as a strong, reputable brand which has responded to the current needs of the market. As a property and casualty insurance provider, we believe that this campaign will not only sensitize the public on the importance of disaster preparedness but adds value through the hosting of the trivia competition which affords persons the opportunity to win hurricane kits filled with essential items.”

The competition will run for eight weeks starting July 7, 2020 and winners will be selected randomly each week, with prizes being presented by representatives from Kooyman and Guardian General Insurance. (PR)
