The seat became vacant after long-standing Barbados Labour Party Member of Parliament, Gline Clarke, announced his retirement from elective politics. Walrond previously ran for Solutions Barbados in St James North in the 2018 General Election. Waldron was announced as the PdP’s candidate during a function at Sam’s Place, The Glebe.
